FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Is Gig Harbor Primary Care accepting new patients?
We are accepting new patients. Give us a call at (253) 432-4437 to schedule an appointment!
  • Why Gig Harbor Primary Care?
At Gig Harbor Primary Care we know that you have many options to choose from when selecting your healthcare provider. We are a small practice, which allows us to provide personalized care to each of our patients. At the same time, we maintain a large network of specialists to meet additional referral needs should they be necessary. Often with large corporate medical providers, patients feel as though they are just another number. By choosing a small, private medical provider, you will be treated as an individual who is a member of the GHPC family.
  • What is “an integrative healthcare approach”?
Our integrative, holistic healthcare approach focuses on the individual as a whole and not simply a disease process. The World Health Organization defines health as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” An integrative approach considers all aspects of a person’s health when addressing their medical needs. We want you to be comfortable and know that your concerns are being addressed from a multi-faceted perspective.
  • Does Gig Harbor Primary Care accept my medical insurance?
We accept most major medical insurance. Please call us to determine if Gig Harbor Primary Care is covered by your plan. The phone number for Gig Harbor Primary Care is (253) 432-4437. You can also call your insurance provider directly, however that will likely be more cumbersome than calling us directly. The phone number to your insurance provider can be found on the back of your insurance card.
  • My medical condition requires that I be referred to various specialists. Do you have a large referral network?
It is a common misconception that independently owned medical practices are limited in their ability to refer patients to specialists. Even though Gig Harbor Primary Care is not part of a large medical group, we do maintain a large referral network for western medicine and complementary / alternative medical providers. Being independently owned does not impact our ability to refer patients to specialists, whether the specialists are part of a larger medical group or independently owned. In fact, we have more freedom when referring our patients because we aren’t required to refer within a specific medical group. As part of our commitment to excellent patient care, we make every effort to personally meet the providers who we refer to. That allows us to get to know the specialist and their practice so we know our patients are in good hands.
  • I get nervous about switching Primary Care Providers (PCP). I don’t want to establish care only to find out it isn’t a good fit.
We understand that getting a new PCP can be a stressful experience. That is why we decided to offer free meet and greet appointments to folks who are considering making a switch. This will allow you the opportunity to meet Scot prior to establishing care. While he won’t be able to discuss specific medical recommendations or treatment paths, you will be able to get an idea of his treatment philosophies over a glass of water, cup of tea or coffee. You can give our front desk a call to schedule the meet and greet.
